First Nymi Hackathon Gets Devs Building

September 12, 2014

Getting the Nymi ready for launch requires a lot of time and hard work from everyone on the team - sometimes even our friends, families and supporters help pitch in. Last weekend we were all able to put the Nymi through a major step by hosting our first private Hackathon. We brought in local developers to build applications for the Nymi. It was awesome to see the things the developers were able to bring to life in such a short amount of time.

To those involved Balaji Gopalan, our Director of Platform, would like to say:  A heartfelt thank you for all the amazing feedback. We’ve got a bunch of work to do in the next couple of weeks and the next few months are going to be very exciting for us.

Using our Nymi Emulator (Nymulator as we like to call it) and our Beta SDK, teams split into groups of 2-3 to build applications that used persistent identity. They started at 12pm. Fuelled by snacks, food, and caffeine they had finished projects by 9pm that night.

“It’s really inspiring to see all these developers with all these ideas and all this talent put together something so amazing in such a short amount of time.” Ellen Li, our UX designer said about the developers attending the hackathon.

We also received a lot of awesome feedback.

“It was a lot of fun… what we’ve been able to do from it is very cool.” Says Daniel MacKenzie, a software developer at Monolith.

“It’s easier than I expected, we were able to get it set up with our device very quickly” – Macy Kuang says about getting the Nymi to talk to Google Glass.

We’re looking to get more feedback! Are you a developer interested in developing with the Nymi? Join our growing community by signing up on our developer forums http://dev.getnymi.com/. Download our SDK and get building http://dev.getnymi.com/getting-started/.
